"Satisfy Your Inner Tchotche"

Nutley, NJ, October 20, 2011 – Schmutzerland, the image based jewelry specialist, has begun creating exclusive jewelry lines for retailers. After introducing the concept of creating jewelry based on unique images supplied by retail store owners, Schmutzerland has responded to their customer's needs, by helping them create products that are exclusive to their stores.

Retailers of Schmutzerland jewelry have been taking advantage of the company’s ability to customize the images in their settings. This allows them to stand apart from other fashion, accessory and lifestyle stores by offering something no one else will have. Schmutzerland has created an exclusive pug cocktail ring for Modcloth, one of the largest independent online retailers in the country, along with other brick and mortar stores such as Blast Gallery in Teaneck, NJ, Shiny Fish Emporium in Ana Maria Island, FL and Made to Order in Clinton, NJ. As well as institutions like Georgetown University in Washington, DC and Temple University in
Philadelphia, PA.

Scott Harris owner of Blast Gallery In Teaneck, NJ raves, “As an art gallery/store, we are always looking to offer products that combine the idea of art and merchandise. Schmutzerland has been the perfect partner to help us create these products. With Schmutzerland we are able to create totally original, wearable art.”

Retailers send Schmutzerland images that are iconic to their location or partner up with local artists. Whether they send photos or images of paintings and illustrations Schmutzerland makes the jewelry exclusively for them and will not allow any other outlet to sell these pieces.

Schmutzerland is also able to create one of-a-kind pieces in a variety of settings for individual customers as well. By being able to offer this service to their customers retailers have a new dimension of service they can offer.

The Schmutzerland line also features images from Victorian engravings, famous faces, animals, geography and geometry to nostalgic themes, so there is a little something for everyone’s liking. The whimsical nature of Schmutzerland’s designs promotes its appeal to a broad spectrum of clientele, who find they are great pieces to wear, whether they are dressing up or dressing down.

Tchotch•ke: noun informal 1. A small object that is decorative rather than strictly functional; a trinket 2. A pretty girl (American Oxford Dictionary)

A truly inspiring story of innovation and reinvention, Schmutzerland is a family owned business started in 2008. Beginning as a web based company, the business now has retailers from Brooklyn to Barcelona, selling imaginative image based jewelry. Drawing on a background from a successful career as a graphic designer, Bonnie Berish, principal designer and art director, along with her daughter Lauren, have taken the best of the image collection that she has assembled over the years and created a line of image based fashion jewelry. Schmutzerland has been worn by Tracey Ulman in her hit Showtime series “State of the Union," written about in major fashion and lifestyle publications and blogs, along with a healthy viral buzz created by satisfied customers blogging, posting on Facebook and Tweeting.
